Diagnosing a pest problem isn't always easy. Some telltale "signs" around your home or business that indicate the presence of particular pest aren't obvious to the untrained eye. That is why we are compiling this easy reference guide - to help you identify possible pest problems.

to materials in the form of irregular chew marks rats, mice, cockroaches
to timber
"muddy" bits on surface of timber or gyprock. termites,
wasps ( mud),
mortar bees
soft or hollowed out timber wood decay, carpenter ants, termites
small holes, powdery dust borers, fungi, rot
to plastic or other material e.g. packaging beetles, weevils
to electrical appliances or equipment , power sockets, wiring ants, rodents, cockroaches
Scratching or itching (bird) lice, (dust) mite, hayitch mite, flea, bedbug, midges, mosquito, paper lice, various flies
Stinging spiders, ants, wasps, bees, flies, mosquito, midges, ticks, lice, bugs
Noises and sounds termites, rodents, cockroach. wasps, bees, flies, crickets, grass hoppers or flat battery in your smoke alarm
Smelly rodents, birds, termites or a dead animal
Mould, mildew, musty smell Fungi

Note: usually a symptom of high moisture or humidity content, which in turn encourages termites, borers and fungi.

Silky material webbing spiders, beetles or weevils e.g. in food products, decay moth in decaying timber
Smudges, greasy marks rodent, possums, birds, cockroaches
